BALLOT & LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
Office of the Secretary of the State
The Secretary of the State administers elections in Connecticut. The SOTS website lists requirements for state and federal offices,
and a complete list of Town Clerks who handle local elected positions.
State Elections Enforcement Commission
The SEEC’s is charged with enforcing state election laws, including financial reporting, and also administers the
Citizens’ Election Program (CEP) which grants funding to qualified candidates.

MAJOR PARTY CONTACTS FOR CONNECTICUT TOWNS
Most candidates begin by running for local office, often through the auspices of the Republican or
Democratic Town Committee (RTC/DTC). The state parties provide local contact information via their websites.
