Electoral Process Coverage on the Connecticut Network

In keeping with our mission to increase understanding of the issues and processes of self-governance in a democratic society, the Connecticut Network provides coverage of the electoral process. Recognizing that opposing political ideologies are an essential part of electoral politics in a democracy, CT-N strives to provide viewers with a balanced view inside the political process for the following races:

  • State constitutional offices (Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Treasurer, Comptroller and Secretary of the State) in eligible years.
  • United States Senate in eligible years
  • Connecticut's five congressional districts

GUIDELINES:

  1. Electoral process events during campaign seasons are tracked to ensure balance between opposing parties and opposing candidates. As with all of our coverage, balance will be judged over the course of the entire election season and not by daily or weekly benchmarks. Events by competing campaigns will not necessarily air adjacent to one another.

  2. Each campaign will be contacted on a regular basis to proactively inquire about upcoming events.

  3. Views or opinions expressed by candidates during events are not necessarily those of the Connecticut Network. CT-N adheres to strict programming guidelines to ensure that all events covered by the network air in their entirety, and therefore does not exercise editorial control over the content of campaign coverage telecasts.
